I love the Toronto zoo, I go every year. you can spend your whole day there as there is so much to see, as they have animals from every part of the world. it is sad seeing animals that belong in the wild as hunters roaming in circles but it is important to remember some of these animals are endangered and they have to increase their numbers in captivity as due to deforestation and hunting their numbers are low in the wild.

We visited to Toronto Zoo when we found out they had two Pandas. It was raining when we got there but it was still a great day out. The zoo is huge, and some of the animals are able to roam free. The staff were friendly and informative, even when off duty. Most of the enclosure have an outdoor viewing and indoor glass viewing, lets you see the animals up close (if they decide to come to the glass).

I brought my friend from Switzerland here while she was staying with me and we had a great time. We bought the Toronto CityPass so we used a voucher to get into the zoo. The weather was on our side and it was about 30 degrees but because kids were still in school, the zoo was still in off season so not all food places were open. We managed to see all of the animals we wanted and even made it down to the Canadian Domain (it's a bit of a hike down and up again so make sure you are prepared for that). There is a trolley that can take you around but we opted for the walking route and just enjoyed the scenery and the weather. The only gluten free option that I managed to find was a plain garden salad at the Africa Restaurant. I'm not sure if there are more options when all of the zoo's restaurants are open. However, you can bring any food or drink into the zoo so it might be better to save your money anyways! I really enjoyed the Panda exhibit that you go through before seeing the actual pandas - it's really informative and the set up is cool.

fun place to spend a day, like any other zoo, cant help but worry about the happiness of these animals. they seem ok as far as zoos go but a zoo is a zoo is a zoo, i dont know why I keep giving these places my money.that said. lots of fun.

Luckily my husband decided to take a day off just after we had some snow fall in the city the night before. We headed up to the zoo in time for it to open and went directly to see the pandas. We were rewarded with such a funny show from Da Mao! He would go immediately from eating to doing somersaults down the hill in the snow. It was almost as if he'd look up to see if we were watching and if he heard laughing he'd tumble down again. It was absolutely priceless! I got quite a few videos of his antics and our friends just loved seeing them.We did go back a few times more during the day but all he was doing was eating and sleeping so I think the key is to go first thing in the morning and preferably after some snow.We thoroughly enjoyed walking around the near empty zoo. It was a weekday in the morning and quite cold and snowy. We got to speak with a lot of the zookeepers as well so that made our visit very interesting too. You can always duck into a building here and there to warm up. It would help if there was better signage around the zoo to direct you.

If you're looking for something to do and see in Toronto, this is THE place! A fantastic zoo run by great people who truly care for these animals. Lots of animals to see any time of the year (We have taken our two year old a dozen times this winter alone). For those with young children, the cold winter days are a great time to enjoy a less crowded zoo, and you will love the tropical temperatures in some the pavilions.Highly recommend!

One of the worst zoo's that we have ever visited. It is a concrete nightmare. Far distances between visits, lots of walking and the animals are sad to look at. Poorly designed.

We had a day to kill so my wife dragged me here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It snowed all day which meant visitors were low so you could get to see everything unless the animals had been moved due to the weather. Saying that though, it still took 5 hours to get round and we could have stayed longer if they weren't about to close.I never thought I'd see lions and tigers in the snow but they were all out. The polar bears were amazing as were the snow leopards.Having the pavilions open offered a welcome break from the cold but all of the concession stalls and most of the restaurants were closed due to it being out of season. Because of this I thought there would have been a reduction in the admission charge but no. Also, you have to pay $10 to park in addition to your admission. Even so, it was still good value for money and definitely recommended.
