Lots of information, lovely old décor and the house itself is beautiful. Very informative and easy to find.

Most definitely worth visiting, beautifully restored with some great examples of period wallpapers and painted ceilings. Good example of a local land and lumber barons life in the 19th century.

On our way from Pelee Island, my husband and I were looking to make the best use of our road trip back to Toronto. We found Annandale and although there was an issue with Hydro (power) and we couldn't go in, we were so impressed with the building and grounds that we'll make the trip back to see the interior. A kind woman noticed that we were reading the sign on the entrance about the Hydro issue and kindly came out to explain the situation and gave us a brochure. Looking forward to a complete visit!

The ceilings, the floors, the walls, the doors, the antiques and the history! A little out of the way but worth the trip.

This is an excellent place to visit. It also has many programs that we have participated in. The two favourites of ours is the "Lunch and Learn" during the winter, and the Sunday night outdoor live music during the simmer.

I have gone repeatedly to Annandale House. I love in this order: the multicolored painted plaster ceiings; the elaborately carved brass door hinges; the parquet floors in intricate designs; the collection of period furniture, artifacts, and clothes. The price is moderate, and the guides very knowledgeable and friendly. Don't miss it.

This is not just another look through an 1800's vintage house. Annandale House is decorated in the style of the Aesthetic Arts Movement, which Mrs. Tillson had learned about through having attended a talk by Oscar Wilde when he was in nearby Woodstock. It is one of the last and best surviving examples of Aesthetic Art decor, and therefore truly unique. The main rooms have been beautifully restored to best show off the glowing wallpaper, glittering stained glass, finely detailed woodwork, and elaborately decorated ceilings of the house. Much of the original furniture remains as well. My only disappointment was that the bathroom (very few people even had one in those days!) had been removed. However, there was also a very interesting room documenting the role of Tillsonburg and its citizens in the two World Wars, and another that demonstrated women's clothing from the era of the Tillsons. The acompanying self-guided tour booklet, while it needs to be updated, was very informative about the Tillson family, the decor, and the town. When we visited, in the exhibition hall, there was a terrific display of all things red, from tiny 1890's childrens' shoes, to 1960's signage. The grounds are lovely, there is plenty of parking, and the staff are very welcoming. This is a gem!

We attend the Lunch and Learn during the winter. These are great activities, as they have a great lunch and learn something about the history of Tillsonburg. You also get to go through Annadale House.

Especially at Christmas with all the old decorations. This is a beautiful old home, you can really appreciate all the details that went into this home.

The Annandale house is a Canadian National Historic Site since 1997 and build by E.D. Tillson, first Mayor of Tillsonburg in 1880. Today the house has a large addition and houses a museum and tourist information centre. Visitors to the site can tour three floors of the house with its restored period rooms and history galleries, as well as, the main gallery with its changing displays. Special programs, group tours and buses are welcome! The facility is totally accessible and parking is available on-site. The grounds around the house are not that large yet they are very impressive with flowers and well kept trees. So it is a great place to get wonderful pictures of the house, flowers, trees and of course a wonderful place to have family and wedding photos take.So if you are ever in the Tillsonburg area a visit to the Annandale house is a must. And Annandale House is just as interesting in the winter as it is in spring and summer or fall.
