We were there for the last show, the show was really really awesome! There were also a Christmas tree decorations competition in the hallway, very nicely decorated trees, each with style.

Lovely old theatre that's been redone and is a great spot to see live acts. Staff were very friendly and helpful also.

We saw a live production of Mary Poppins and thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done!! We also enjoy the Festival of Trees each winter. However, rarely do we find other shows we want to attend. (They are either not "live" or they are risque or not interesting or ....)

I have been here many times and it is clean and the shows vary tending to focus on seniors. It could use more entertainment for varied ages. To keep it short we are satisfied with the overall experience but this place really needs to hire bartenders and make bigger bar area. Not only is it missing a ton of income its frustrating as an adult to line up and push around to get one drink at intermission. What about allowing a person to finish there drink at there seats like the big people do. Seriously its 2014.

We attended the Mary Poppins matinee, and the show greatly exceeded my expectations. We were in awe of the Broadway worthy quality of performance. The vocals, drama, dance and music were spell binding! Watching the show took me back in time to the thrill I felt seeing the movie for my first time. I highly recommend this show for all audiences.

A great venue. Staff was pleasant. The bar is small but service was quick and there is ample seating in the lobby area. The theatre seating was comfortable and allowed for good sight lines from all sections.

We saw the musical review of 'Broadway: Andrew Lloyd Webber' on the June 22 matinee and it was excellent. The tribute featured songs and dancing from Cats, Evita, Joseph and the Tech Dreamcoat, Phantom, Jesus Christ Superstar, and others. The performances were outstanding with the cast of nine each having stunning voices and much talent. We thoroughly enjoyed it and were in awe at the cast's musical ability and professionalism. I've been to Toronto and Broadway productions, and this casts' singing performances are right up there. The admission cost is minimal for this quality of performance at $28, and there are some weekday matinees as well as evening shows. The parking is free and there are no crowds, lineups or gridlock. If you're a visitor to Toronto looking for a day's outing, Port Hope is about an hour's drive east of Toronto. We've been to various productions at this theatre and every performance has been very good to excellent. There are some great restaurants in town too, as well as cute coffee shops (the Sugar Dust Bakery) and neat shopping.

We've been to the Capitol Theatre many times and never been disappointed. The plays we've seen have always been very well done and the music events atmospheric in the intimate setting. The theatre has a beautifully painted ceiling and walls depicting a large garden and stars above. It creates a wonderful atmosphere. We have always had excellent seats but I doubt that there is a bad one anywhere in the house. The acoustics are very good for both plays and concerts. Even the movies shown there are good to watch as they manage to find movies that are not as well known.

This building was completely restored. When you enter the theater you feel like you are entering an outdoor amphitheater. The acoustics are great and I don't think there is a bad seat in the house.

The first 'Capitol Comedy Night' was held at the Sculthorpe Studio Theatre, second floor of the Capitol Theatre, on Feb 7/14. Located in historic Port Hope, Ontario, it is the last fully restored atmospheric movie theatre still in operation in Canada.. An intimate club arrangement was the perfect setting to enjoy a hilarious evening of exceptional stand up comedy. Check theatre web site for upcoming comedy nights. A great night out; only $15.00!

A very few years ago this theatre was flooded when an ice jam formed on the Ganaraska River but they seem to have the river under control since then with the alterations that they made. The second hand seating has a very luxurious and comfortable feeling with every view from every seat a great view. It is very handy in the downtown section of Port Hope with a great restaurant east of it on highway 2 going towards Cobourg. Well worth attending at least once if you live in Toronto or near Toronto.

The Cinderella naughty panto was fun. Not quite as good as Stirling, but a nice evening and much closer to home. The Christmas tree display as usual was fabulous.

Beautiful in every way. We have visited this lovely place time and again and we are proud to live in the community which supports this gem. Come to visit. Come again and again. Every experience here will be a great one. Our last visit here was for the Vintage Film Festival. We saw 9 films here and were comfortable all the way through. We have also been here for concerts, ceremonies , plays, the Christmas panto and of course for the Festival of Trees.
