The last two days we did some skiing on the Haliburton nordic trails. Moosewood was very nice, well marked and well groomed (except the last portion under the hydro towers did not have a track set). Twin Lakes was also well groomed. Today we went to Wanakita and Pinestone. Pinestone was a disaster area with snowmobile tracks everywhere. Wanakita did not appear to have been groomed this morning and was over used by school groups. It was better further out away from the main camp. It is a nice area though. The websites were updated last Friday and therefore not accurate to today's conditions.

Great selection of trails, from hilly (The Glebe) to gently rolling (Moosewoods, Twin Lakes). All trails are through the beautiful Haliburtion Highlands terrain, lots of trees and ponds. Only downside is that grooming can be spotty, so check conditions at the website before you head.

Well groomed trails in a quiet, beautiful setting. Worth the drive out of Peterborough for the exercise and serenity.

We visited the MoosewoodsTrails just northwest of Haliburton on a very cold weekday in January. Only two other cars in the parking lot. Trails were nicely laid out, scenic and well groomed. Pay on the honour system - well worth the $12 fee.

My husband and I took up cross country skiing last year and have enjoyed every minute of it! The groomed trails seem endless and breathtaking beyond words. I know that you can rent ski's from the Pinestone and that is what we did the first year. We are novice skiers but they have trails for everyone's skiing abliity. We love this part of winter!
