Went to the lake today Augest 6 2014. Launched my small fishing boat to do some fishing with my wife. After a short time of fishing at the east end of the lake we noticed a few larger boat. With tubers and skiers in the area. No big deal till I could see they were drinking beer.then they were driving between canoes and myself. And around swimmers. This is not rite and scary for small boaters with children. Was on the lake all day and no cops on the lake checking people. This lake is stupid busy I feel there should be more cops and either a limit on hp on the lake or higher price to launch for boats with over a 50 hp motor. I won't be back till something is done and I live 10 min away

We traveled from Kitchener to Belwood Lake Conservation Area to hike the trails, and anything else we would have done would have been bonus! When we stopped at the Main Gate, I asked the attendant which way we needed to go to start the trails. She sent us to a lower area of the Conservation Area where we ended up at the swimming area, no trails! If that wasn't bad enough we discovered that the trails were on the other side of the river. So we checked out the swimming area, or should I say wading pool! Not Impressed! It was a Conservation Employee that pointed us towards the trails, and told us that they were closed due to winter damage and weren't safe to use. It is August, and they are still not safe to use? What is up with that? We walked along the top of the Shand Dam, saw where the trails were closed and left the Park disappointed!

We tend to visit here a lot in June, before it gets crazy busy for the summer. The swimming hole isn't giant, but there is a shallow, fenced area for little kids and a gorge side for people who want deeper water-A climber and toilet are also on site. You can hike, bike, kayak, boat or fish (fly or regular) at Belwood as well. If going here to kayak or canoe, be aware that the main lake (above the dam) has many cottages on it and some of the cottagers love to zip up and down in their motor boats and newbie kayakers or anyone else on the water on that side beware. Often a fry truck or something is parked up by the boat launching area.
