Spent a week in St. Croix. By far the best activity! Jen welcomes you with a friendly smile before starting the journey up the beach. She stops along the way to make sure you get a few memorable photos of the journey. Highly recommend!

My daughter and I wanted to go horseback riding while visiting St. Croix. We had the good fortune to choose Cruzan Cowgirls! Our ride took us over long stretches of beach, through beautiful rainforest paths and up a narrow trail ending in a fantastic view of the water. Jennifer adjusts her rides to meet the needs of the riders, offering as little or as much “adventure” as her patrons want. Being novices, she patiently explained how to handle her horses and gladly let us decide how much we felt comfortable doing. She told us she’s more than willing to let more advanced riders determine what kind of experience they would like as well. But, what really drew us to Cruzan Cowgirls was the obvious respect and love Jennifer has for her horses. They are all rescues, removed from abusive situations and rehabilitated so they can live happy and healthy lives. Her concern and care for these animals is very evident. For this reason alone, we would highly recommend Cruzan Cowgirls. The great ride is a bonus!

My friend and I found Cruzan Cowgirls though a tourist guide book. We signed up for a sunset ride. I figured it would be the causal, slow group ride. Boy was I wrong! When Alder I and got to the meet up spot, we found out it was just us plus two guides, Jennifer and Atlas. Since Alder and I both had experience riding, they took us a ride that matched our skills. They made our trip memorable! If you ever find yourselves on St. Croix, you will not be disappointed with Cruzan Cowgirls. I also love that they are an active rescue group so your fee goes toward supporting their cause!

I had a blast with Jennifer and the ponies. Very beautiful scenery and really the best way to see the countryside. You can really tell that Jennifer cares a lot about all the horses and is passionate about their welfare. I had forgotten my camera in the car and she very kindly took some wonderful photos for us.

Horseback riding along the beach then up through the rainforest all the while being educated and entertained. A great value! We can't wait to come back.

I came here to St. Croix on my own...and today I was surrounded by friends; Jennifer, Crow, Moonshine, the ocean, the rain forest, expansive views, great conversation, fresh air, deep breaths, and a kinship for taking good care of our animals, our planet and each other. Thank you, Jennifer.

This was on my bucket list of things to do. It couldn't have been a more fantastic experience. Jennifer was very professional and accommodating to meet the needs of all people in our group. Jennifer was very, very respectful and texted us on the day of our ride to ensure we still wanted to go because it was raining slightly. We went anyway and enjoyed a fantastic experience!! Jennifer is fabulous and made this adventure one of the highlights of our trip!!! Would recommend this experience again and again. Hopefully we will be back to experience this thrill again!!

My 10 year old daughter and I had a great time with Jennifer riding on the beach and on the jungle road. It was a pleasure getting to know Jennifer and hearing about the great work she is doing to help the horses in St. Croix. Her horses are very gentle and look very healthy, unlike alot of horses you will see on other rides in the Caribbean. My daughter has a bit of riding experience so she was happy to be able to trot her horse along the beach. I would definitely suggest doing the sunset ride- we were lucky even on a rainy day to catch the sun going down while a cruise ship sailed off in the distance. Beautiful!

We had so much fun! The beach and trails were amazing and not your typical boring tourist ride. Plus part of your fee goes to a local horse rescue. It's a 'must do' if you're in St Croix!

Being from the Midwest I've always wanted to ride a horse on the beach. When I read about Cruzan Cowgirls rescue efforts she was the only one I wanted to contact. Just returned from the island 9-21-14. Jennifer took us along the beach and into the rain forest then back to the beach and into the ocean. It was great. Jennifer is doing a great job on the island with these animals. We rode Crow and Firefly and had a blast. Thanks Jennifer.

We had so much fun on this trip. Jennifer is really doing great things on the island. The horses are in great condition and sound like they have the lives they deserve after being rescued from their previous situations. We rode a fair amount on the beach, then into the rainforest on a road. There were helpers there in case you needed them that walked with us. My husband really appreciated that since he had never been on a horse before. On the way back, we actually walked mostly in the water which my horse just loved. Some of them were splashing around. It was a really good experience both for the riders & the horses.

While my wife and I were visiting St. Croix for our honeymoon we wanted to do as many activities as possible that the island had to offer. During a conversation we were having with a fellow guest at our hotel, the topic of horseback riding came up. We were told that sunset horseback tours were quite impressive and we should look into it.So I looked up a couple different outfits that offered these types of tours and I came across Cruzan Cowgirls. We decided to go for it so I got on the phone and spoke with Jennifer. We ended up scheduling a tour for the next day.We met Jennifer and one of her assistant guides in the parking lot across the street from a well-known restaurant/live music venue. Jennifer brought four horses with her, one for each of us. Since it was my wife’s first time riding a horse she was a little tentative and nervous about the whole experience. To set her mind at ease, Jennifer offered to walk the tour and guide my wife’s horse to make sure that she was as comfortable as possible. I thought this was a very sincere gesture and my wife greatly appreciated it. Once everything was set we embarked on hour 1.5 hour journey.Jennifer and her assistant were fabulous. Jennifer was very knowledgable about the island, local culture, and a little bit of history. Being a St. Croix native, her assistant knew about all the island’s ins and outs, telling us a couple stories along the way.One of the things I appreciated most about Cruzan Cowgirls was that Jennifer doesn’t just perform her tours to make money. She uses the proceeds of her business to rescue local animals from horses to dogs and everything in between. Most of the animals on the island aren’t spayed or neutered so population control is a rather big issue. In addition, she hires local at-risk adolescents to help her out with Cruzan Cowgirls operations. Her mission is to provide these troubled individuals with an option to make an honest living, get them out of trouble, have a lot of fun, and learn valuable skills along the way. I can’t say how much I admire Jennifer for this.As for the tour itself, it was AMAZING! We started out traveling along the pristine beaches through some sea turtle nesting sites (without disturbing them of course). Then we crossed into the rainforest and enjoyed all of the incredibly lush scenery. Throughout the entire tour, Jennifer and her assistant informed us of local information about plants, animals, and politics. All of which we found really interesting. We traveled a ways into the rainforest and then turned around to make it back to the beach in perfect time for sunset. My wife and I posed on the beach with our horses with the setting sun in the background while Jennifer took pictures of us. I can honestly say that these were the best pictures from our entire trip. The sunset that day happened to be spectacular and it was a moment that we will never forget.I cannot recommend Jennifer and Cruzan Cowgirls enough. Everything about the tour was memorable. It was well worth the money we spent and if we ever go back to St. Croix we will definitely do the tour again. Thank you Jennifer for everything you do and keep up the good work!

Loved the horses and riding on the beach - My niece and I both connected with our horses, Firefly and Fox - Loved that these horses were recovered by Jennifer - she was a friendly guide and made our ride memorable!

Being a former STX resident, I had been to other riding experiences on island, but I had not tried this one. We were in St. Croix for 10 days, and looking for things to do with a 10 year old and a 13 year old. I called and Jen was very accommodating with our schedule. I gave her the ages and experience levels of everyone in our group so that she could pick the appropriate horses. She and her staff arrived ahead of time, and the horses were all saddled and waiting for us when we arrived. She had one assistant for each horse. Because three of our party were beginners, she gave us the option of having someone lead the horse throughout the whole experience (we took advantage of that!) Experienced riders can opt not to have someone lead (which is what I chose). Not only was the scenery beautiful, but we had a chance to talk and learn about the horses on the island, the rescues, and even learned that horses LOVE mangoes (WHO KNEW?!) We got a very long ride on the beach, through the rainforest and then swam with the horses on BEAUTIFUL Rainbow Beach (There was even a Rainbow). Jen took pictures with our camera the entire time, and we came home with some BEAUTIFUL pictures. Out of everything we did on island, the kids had the MOST fun doing this. I highly recommend Cruzan Cowgirls if you're looking to truly experience the beauty and nature that is wild St. Croix.
