If you love Bob Marley and everything that he loved (wink wink), you'll love this place! The tour guides are really knowledge and provide a great history of Bob and his life. Visiting Bob's house was one of the best parts of my trip to Jamaica!

It was a good day out ,but it could have been better if the guide would not have tried to be to funny all of the time. I picked up some of the info from the other guides. Even though this did not allow us to get the full potential from the visit, I would not stop any one visiting. It shows the first house where his mother was born; the second house that even though was made of block was not big by any standard. Then you can see the resting places of both Bob & his mother

The visit to 9 mile was the primary reason for our visit to Jamaica. For me, it was all about the music that Bob Marley bought to the world and the happiness that so many got from the message in the music. It was not about the ganja. Visiting the Mausoleum was a bit of a pilgrimage. It's unfortunate (but understandable) that there is so much focus on ganja throughout the visit. There were some insights on our tour into the Rasta culture, and I certainly would have liked to hear more about this from the guide. There was very little mention of the music, which was so disappointing as this music had such a huge influence on the sounds that I grew up with in the 70's and 80's. There was also very little talk of Bob Marley's life on our bus which I found surprising and disappointing also. The guide at the Mausoleum was a real character, and was thoroughly entertaining. There was a group of old rasta men playing acoustic versions of Bob's songs. It was touching. The house with the 'single bed' must be seen, as well as the mausoleums of Bob and his Mum as well. Buy a candle, light it, and feel the love. We did.As with all things that attract tourists in poorer places, there are few moments that go by without you feeling a reach for your wallet; from the dealers at the gates, to tips and trinkets in the compound, to children begging outside. Regardless though, this was a great experience that I won't soon forget.I should mention that the bus ride up to 9 mile is great in itself. Lots of sights of local life along the narrow winding roads through the country. This was really insightful into how folks live in the Jamaican countryside that is very far removed from the resort lifestyle so many enjoy when visiting. Despite the negatives I mention in my review, I'd highly recommend this experience to anybody who appreciates Bob Marley.

At first I was a little nervous when I got off the bus as there were a group of people selling ganga, brownies, and pot tea. Oh, yeah... I was visiting Bob Marley's home...I suppose it makes sense. Although Mr. Marley was a Rastafarian so he was smoking up for different reasons than to just be tripin'. The grounds were in excellent condition. Clean. Organized. Well labelled. The people on the tour were quiet and respectful. Awesome. The rules in the Mausoleum were 'no photos, no flash, no footwear, no drinking.' You could however smoke all the pot you wanted. The history was informative and the guide was fun. I would recommend this tour but not as a tour via the hotel because so much of the day is spent driving. I'd recommend finding your own transportation and zipping up there. It will save about three hours in total of your trip as tour buses have to pick up and drop off at half a dozen hotels. That alone takes over an hour and a bit just to go. If you're a fan of the Legend I think it's worth paying your respects.

Fun tour. Lots of marijuana around. People are literally smoking everywhere. Advise to go in a group.

This birth place of Reggae legend Bob Marley is also where his body is buried above ground. A small village called Nine Miles - called so because the nearest town in either direction is nine miles away - is a good drive through scenic mountains and the compound (Bob Marley's house) is well secured. The guides are professionals and some of them are direct relatives of Bob Marley so you get to hear some family details! Bob's accomplishments are celebrated through displays of his awards, his popular songs sung by local artists, and of course you go through the house and light a candle at his grave in respect. well worth the trip through winding mountain roads.

Long drive to get there. ...but it was worth it. Takes you thru the foothills in St.Anns Parish. ...at the top is the Marley compound. You are walked thru on a tour if the facility... first stop a bar where you can sample the signature drink as it is lit on fire!!!! (With a souvenir glass, for the brave) it features some history of Bob Marley's life including the house he was born in and the mausoleum with him and his mother as well as a church. There are music memorabilia and of course the gift shop to culminate the trip. All in all a good experience

Highly commercialized but still very cool to see where Bob Marley was born and grew up. Our guide was hilarious and informative, I would give him 5 stars! If you are a Bob Marley fan, then I would highly suggest taking a road trip to Nine Mile. On the way you will get to see real parts of Jamaica as you pass through several villages and towns on winding mountain road. If you are a ganja smoker, you are free to enjoy a joint during the tour. It is not only welcome but encouraged! Great stop!

If you are hoping for spiritual enlightenment you've come to the wrong place. The entrance is a mecca for 'unlicenced herbalists' ripping of gullible tourists out to impress their uptight friends by 'smoking' in public. The curator/tour guide rambled through his script on autopilot and the visit felt like just another money spinner for the beneficiaries of the great mans' legacy. Avoid.

This place is fun! Be prepared for everyone around you (or even you if you like) to have a big spliff lit up. Not a place I would take my kids. Was interesting and the guide kept us laughing. We enjoyed the scenic drive up from Runaway Bay. We also stopped at the farmers Market in Brownstown which was interesting.

It is an interested place to know the history of Bob Marley and that is all. It is a far away place, I travel from Ocho ríos and I spend 3 hrs to get there, the road is dangerous.

Loved the entire tour! Great job from the tour guide and staff. The commercialization of Bob Marley is heavy at this stop. I would have liked to see what this place looked like 10 years ago. Make sure to sit on bobs rock and take in the scenery.

Went to the site of Bob Marley's birth and where he's buried at 9 Miles. It was an interesting bus tour and we got to see a lot of the countryside. There is a lot of poverty in Jamaica and it was very obvious as we took the tour. The Bob Marley part of the tour was very educational and entertaining.

The 'Legends' Mausoleum is a place to visit. Sure there is a commercial aspect of it, as is many tourist locations throughout the world, but to see first hand - the beginnings of Bob Marley's life was worth it. To see where he started and what he had done for 9 Mile, the school built, and Jamaica is fascinating. The travel from the resort back into the mountains was equally enjoyable. The guides were really helpful and informative and discussed a lot of history surrounding the family, Marley and the area. Well worth the time to see and experience the beginnings and resting place of one of the greatest musicians. Well done !!

Very sacred place for natives. I was very impressed with this small secluded place! The guide was very informative and I enjoyed the cultural aspect of trip to 9 mile. Captain Crazy was hilarious but please don't play him for a fool. I saw him get really serious with a group of knuckle heads. Any who, you must visit. Oh BTW, do not eat the entire piece of cake while you are there!
