A group of us headed from our hotel in Ponce via taxi to the beach and boardwalk here so we could see the Caribbean and enjoy being near the water. It was a nice afternoon and we enjoyed ourselves. Our taxi dropped us off at the beach first where we waded a little in the water and walked along the strand. There were few people on the beach, several families with children enjoying the water. The beach does not seem conducive for swimming. The surf was way out and there was green sea grass growing in the shallow areas of the water. The sand here is not real appealing for sitting or laying around, but it was nice to see the ocean and the islands in the distance. Plus, there are some interesting trees growing near the water's edge. We next walked a short distance to the rather attractive boardwalk and enjoyed seeing the harbor. We had fun seeing several wild parakeets flying about in the palms. There were some kiosks with outside seating where people were enjoying drinks and snacks. We stopped at one of the kiosks and enjoyed drinks and engaged in conversation with a visiting couple who are sailing their catamaran all over the Caribbean. All in all, a pleasant visit to this part of Ponce.

This was my wife's and my first stop in Puerto Rico. We are used to the Boardwalk and Pier in Redondo Beach CA. and found this as interesting. The park surrounding the beaches is nice and there are lots of things for kids and families. The Boardwalk was a lot of fun. The food stands look quite good but the best part was watching people feed the fish and birds sardines. The fish are quick and race to get the sardines but the birds are acrobats and pick them out of the air. The trees and boats in the marina are beautiful and the wind and warm sun was fantastic. There is a viewing tower at the Boardwalk with lots of steps to get to the top. We are told the views from the top are beautiful. The steps were prohibitive for us.We did go into the old town. We thought it was interesting to look at, not anything special to get out and walk to and since it was a Sunday most things were closed. The one truly memorable thing to look at is the old fire truck and station. It is an open air facility, it is quite small and you can see it in a few minutes. The people we met there were quite friendly and happy to see "Gringos" visiting their community.

La Guancha is one of the best place at Ponce to spend time with the family. You can walk around the boardwalk and if you have kids, they can feed the birds and the fish. Kids also can ride their bikes and scooters aroud the Guancha area. There are different small restaurants and stores, places that you can eat puertorican food, frituras and drink frappes or pina colada. There are a great view of the sea and there you can see also beautiful sunsets. Is a nice place.

You love ocean views, walk under the beautiful bright skies, warm sun & cool sea breeze, good food, stroll on the boardwalk, Salsa & Tropical music? Then this is the place to be. Enjoy with the family, friends or love one. Has a tall view tower & enjoy the sites of La Guancha. Have a few cold local beers "Medalla" & enjoy tasty turn overs called "frituras", my fav pizza turnover & Alcapurias (made out of green bananas & ground beef)... Deeeelicious! Toss a few left overs to giant size fishes, waiting to be fed, & friendly pelicans. Enjoy our Caribbean music & dance to the rhythm of Salsa & merengue. And best of all, friendly locals. Overall: Very enjoyable, fun, great place to hang out!

la guan ha is a great place to spend time with the family. People watching along the boardwalk and enjoying the different cultural activity Puerto Rico has to offer Music of every sort. Dancing, walking drinking, eating chasing after the children And being together. Nothing better. Having a good time. That's a good thing. Great beach lovely views. I was a little disappointed with our choice of restaurant. A wee bit greasy.

Visiting the boardwalk in La Guancha is a beautiful experience. La Guancha has a beach, an observation tower, an amphitheater, and many kiosks. The food at each of the stands was delicious with wide varieties of appetizers called pinchos:) My favorite was the karaoke. One favorite restaurant was Paseo Tablado La Guancha.

Seaside pier with nice typical food eating establishments - sea breeze and pelicans. Ample parking and no stairs.

At La Guancha in Ponce on the very first Kiosk you find the Best Mojitos in Ponce. They also have typical salads and other dishes, plus an enjoyable terrace.

We visited the La Guancha Boardwalk on 2/16/2015. The Boardwalk is a large stretch of land by the marina on the other side. There is a very large parking lot that leads towards the boardwalk. Despite the fact that many of the restaurant buildings were vacant, (not distressed), there was a moderate amount of visitors and local families who wanted to have a good and fun time to relax with their children by the water and feed the giant pelicans. Many other families visited the few restaurants that were open or camp out by the beach and watch the waves. The boardwalk is relatively clean and we spotted one officer for safety. Interestingly enough, the beach lead right around to the other side to the Hilton Ponce Resort. The La Guancha may not be considered a 'fancy' attraction, but it is a good place just to relax and have some fun.

Terrible service and our food had pieces of foil paper in it. The waitress did not even bother to tell the manager about it and they fully charged us for the food even though we did not eat it. Bad service at the Pilon Borincano and even grosser food quality plus it even had insects.

We drove over an hour to get to the boardwalk, only to be thoroughly disappointed!! There are only a handful of restaurants open, with nobody in them. 5 people total on the beach. The main beach bathrooms have their doors open but no running water, no lights, no supplies! Is this a joke!?

So they do have a boardwalk in Ponce, and it is relatively clean, save the bird poop but there is not a lot to do, except stroll around. If I had children I would recommend the area because there is a park to play in and they will love feeding the sea birds that gather around. We got caught in a downpour on a sunday afternoon. Most everything was closed, save a couple of restaurants and bars. So we parked at a bar and enjoyed their very reasonable mojitos until we could head home. Not a total loss but I would not make a special trip here.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how large, and nice the boardwalk was. We were there on Christmas day, late morning, so it wasn't very busy, the views of the marina from the boardwalk were great. Lot's of parking, very clean, safe, lot's of restaurants, little patio's and vendors. A really enjoyable place to spend a few hours.
