Beautiful, you really need a full day to see everything they have to offer. Gorgeous views, the portholes smelled like urine.

My husband and I spent most of the day exploring the historic sites. The history was amazing, the views were breath-taking, and it was just a fantastic day of exploring. We ended up there on a national museum day and ended up getting in free. That was a nice treat. Even then, the crowds weren't bad at all.

We went here during our trip in 2011. It was a lot of fun, great for kids, and only cost around three dollars, which also included admission to the smaller fort, Cristobal. The views are spectacular, and there are tons of nooks and crannies and secret staircases to explore.

The site is unique ! At the tip of the land, on top of Old San Juan, the old fort offers a magnific view. If you want to go in the fort, theres a fee.

Take the time to visit this historic site. It's only $4 per person to get in and that buys you a week long pass to all the parks and rec. sites in the city. Wear comfortable shoes as you will do a lot of walking but it is worth the uphill walk to see it.

Touring the forts was well worth the time. Lots of history of the area, you can take as long or as little time as you choose.

To be able to walk through history was awesome. I would highly recommend this for all ages, but please do keep track of your kids. We saw several kids running around and there are certainly areas where caution must be taken. Also if you are older and/or have trouble walking stairs/steps, you might want to stay away. There is a ton of walking so please watch your step and enjoy the history.

I have been here 4 times over 9 years and love to go each time. It is a dramatic landscape where there's lots of kite flying (thus wind) and an historic fort. If you go at day's end/sunset, it is absolutely gorgeous with the sun sinking over the ocean beyond the fort It's a lot of walking so be prepared with comfy footwear. Fort closes at 6 pm but give yourself about 1 hr. to see the interior of fort if you wish but not necessary. Great place for photos. Historic, colorful and breathtaking.

Try pushing up a 96 year old in a wheelchair up the hills of San Juan. That is exactly what I did to get to Fort San Juan.A taxi wanted to take us there for $15 but I needed to work off my girlish figure with exercise. After 4 days on a cruise ship the "Buddha" syndrome can set in.The Buddha syndrome is one that causes people to have his belly after the endless buffets and room service not to mention the dinners.Having visited the Fort twice I pushed him in the chair. When we got there, he was rewarded a USA National Parks pass for ANY of the National Parks as well as 3 guests because he is a disabled Veteran!Membership has its privileges.I veered off to the right side and as I was getting a good view of the sea, I saw upstairs a group of 20 or more Navy reserve personnel.I strained climbing the steep hill with the Wheelchair and got to the top just as they were getting ready to leave.I begged them for a group photo with my Father and they obliged!Best shot of the cruise! After that we saw up close and personal a 2-3 foot long iguana and he was on top of the fort and was indeed King of the mountain. He let me snap photos for minutes and that was really cool! The way back down was equally fun as I had to hold his wheelchair backwards and go in the street. The sidewalks are old, decrepit and not wheelchair friendly.About halfway down, a Police officer on a motorcycle asked if I needed help and we said no.But he did hold up traffic so I could continue my downward spiral backing my Father down ever so carefully. The photos I shot of my dad and the streets do not do much justice to the steep level I and to climb and descend.
