Well preserved, very interesting information and nature as its best. This green lung in the metropolitan area of San Juan is a breath of fresh air (literally) to the city ambiance.

Getting there was little tricky based on the directions received, but once there the whole family enjoyed this place and the close contact to birds and butterflies. Walking to the Observatory can be a challenge depending on age range, but we did it and the view its spectacular. The only downside was that trollies dont seem to have a schedule to go around so we think they forgot about us and we had to walk back and complain in the front since there was an older person/ heart operated still waiting for to b picked up, so we warned the staff and they were just chatting in a corner.

At La Marquesa forest park is a beautiful super Park addition you enjoy it much and that is just 15 minutes from the village of Guaynabo. You can reach the Park through the Rafael Martinez express in Caguas. It has a terrain where there is lots of fun for the whole family and I went with mine, and we had a super. The Park have three options to navigate it: trolley, cable car or walking (only for athletes). The trolley and the cable car reach the same point, the main station at the top of the Park, but in a very different way. If you select the trolley in the form of train Oh there is a journey that allows you to enjoy the attractions that you then visited in person about. But if you decide to hop on the cable car, you will have a spectacular view of the entire Park and up to see the sea. If you are afraid of heights we recommend not looking down. You can make many times. Once these above you can see the butterfly and the Forrest Park Coffee where you can see the dinosaurs. In the butterfly garden really a video where I explain the life-cycle of butterflies, then go see this cycle in person. At the end of the butterfly is the entrance where you will enjoy the splendor of the parrots, macaws and other exotic birds. Then enjoy the dinosaurs have to climb a slope very steep along a gravel road, to the sides of the road are the giant dinosaurs.

This cafeteria (I cannot consider it a restaurant) serves typical fast food material. Nothing to write home about it. They capture the people that visit the park up in the hills of Guaynabo. There are not too many choices to eat once you enter the Par. The Park itself is excellent with a great collection of birds, trees, funicular view, etc.

1st-I would strongly suggest not visiting on a weekend or a holiday (Puerto Rico has more observed holidays than the states, check before you go). 2nd-Parking area is not that big located right at the entrance gates, be prepared to park about 1 mile downhill & take a bus to the entrance. (they use blue school buses, maybe a bit unusual for us stateside, but normal there). Do not leave valuables in car, the parking is not monitored by security & such. Now, open Tuesday-Sunday: 9am-5pm, but if Monday is a holiday they will be open & closed Tuesday. Admission is $6 adults, seniors$3, $3 kids, $1.07 parking all payed at the ticket booth beyond the gates. The lines can be long, only 2 ticket booth were available the day we went. If you are planning other things on the same day, go early! Everything is outdoors-if you have an umbrella take it, hats, sunblock, mosquito repellent, WATER! Cold water in the parking lot was being sold for $1 per bottle. There is a trolley that will take you the observation tower & the water fall, or you can take the cable car which leaves you at the bird aviary & butterfly garden. To us that was the best choice since we have kids. The butterfly garden was nice, can't touch them. What was spectacular for us was the bird aviary with flying free macaws (guacamayo), cockatoos, & other birds. They are beautiful & many are so curious of visitors. But no touching! We took many pictures & kids had a blast. You can take the trolley after this towards the falls, & observation tower. If you walk it takes about 10-20 depending your pace. Wear sneakers, loose clothing, would not recommend flip flops. If you have a stroller take it. There are several nature trails, playgrounds for young kids. The trail leading to the Arboretum is very steep (not exaggerating!). The observation tower has a nice, breezy view. Good workout going uphill to get there. There is a place to eat, but we did not visit, took our own snacks. If you are super tired at the end, take the trolley by restrooms, right below the the observation tower. Otherwise there are several nice, but long trails back down to the entrance/exit. The park has on-site a zip line adventure, but this is a separate cost about $80, need to call to reserve ahead-The Original Canopy Tour 787-789-1598, they also service cruise ships.
