Another recently made new road lets you drive from Miches to El Seibo, crossing the Cordillera del Este. This road offers stunning scenic views and is now known as "Ruta Panoramica Dominicana". Winding up the serpentines you overlook the Miches landscape with its "Round Mountain",(a very special sightseeing point), and the whole coastline near Miches with its beautiful virgin beaches, and the mountains of the Eastern Cordillera on the other side. Driving along the Dominican Panorama Route still means to discover the best viewpoints on your own, there are no signboards yet, no Miradores being built, you have to find out the best spots to stop and look around. For example, at km 10 from Miches there is a sharp turn with a abandoned building on the eastern side, walk up there and enjoy the scenery. Then drive further until the highest point of "La Loma", (marked by a huge yellow building) and right after this palace (as compared to all other small houses and ranchitos) you stop (where you can) to enjoy a breathtaking view to the north, over the bay of La Gina - Miches with the peninsula of Samana visible on the horizon. Then continuing the road towards the small village of Pedro Sanchez ( about half way between Miches and El Seibo) you have to drive down the serpentines of the cordillera again, enjoying a scenic tropical nature all around. Once leaving Pedro Sanchez towards El Seibo, you drive in the valley again, but this Panoramic Route continues giving you vivid impressions of the beautiful landscape and nature in this northeastern part of the Dominican Republic.From El Seibo you can return to your vacation resort driving via Higuey until Bavaro or Punta Cana. This trip is recommended for everybody, a day excursion to discover more than sand and sea.
