But be careful you get the right bottles. He tried to switch one out for a cheaper, similar looking bottle.

Try every kind they have before you make your decision. Just keep in mind they are not open too late -- usually like 6 or 7 pm.

If you like rum this is a must visit. The staff pour samples as fast as you empty your glass. They are knowledgeable and helpful. Try the cream rum liqueur. Liquid candy for adults. The prices, as I understand it, are set by the government so you don't pay any more or less here compared to anywhere else. It is located right across the street from the first beach bus stop in Varadero.

You can taste all the different kinds of rum before you buy! Great place to buy rum, coffee and Cuban cigars!

Don't get your hopes up. It's a neat shop with a bar. Personally did not drink anything there but did pick up a couple bottles of Rum. If you're going to buy any alcohols while in Varadero, I would recommend buying from this location. Other smaller stores may charge you more.

Lovely shop, friendly staff. You are able to taste before you buy!HOWEVER, same prices as duty free, so don't go buying a ton of booze that you must pack in your suitcase to get through security at the airport!

This is a great place to come buy all different types of Cuban ron and liqueurs. The staff handing out the free samples are very friendly and encourage you to try as many as you can and no issue when I asked to try a more expensive ron in their selection. One of the samples was a cream ron called Aldabo which I had to end up buying as there it is something you can not find back home. Also I was looking to buy the 7 year Havana Club when the cashier suggested I buy Ron Cubay, as again, that will not be found outside Cuba. I asked for a sample just in case and it was definitely a good recommendation. The only issue is the price compared to duty free - although still cheap by International Standards, you will find cheaper at the airport but still worth a visit just for the atmosphere, service and to try the samples

If you are a Rum fan then it is worth dropping and sampling the different types of rum made in Cuba. No advantage to buy here but does have a. Good selection, as price is controlled by the government and is the same everywhere. I bought Havana Club "the Ritual", that is made for the European market to make their Cuba Libres. I waited to buy some other older rum when I was at the airport. Unfortunately they were not giving samples of the more expensive brands. The staff were friendly and engaging. If you plan to go into Havana, go to the Museo el Ron. Skip the tour unless you really want to have a guide take you thru replicated models of the process. You get a tiny sample in a plastic cup. Instead I would go to the bar and pay to sample some of the special rums and pick if any wet your whistle? The only place I ever saw Havana Club glasses available for sale was at this museum. Never saw them anywhere else in Havana! If you want some for your bar need to get them there!

Great place, at the beginning of Varadero (coming from the Resorts) to buy your rum. They give you samples of the rum that is not made for export (i.e. for local use) and tell you all about the different kinds of rums. Since the government regulates prices, they are the same all around. There is a cigar store next door.

Excellent place to try all different kinds of Rums and liquers (and for free) . The staff is very friendly and hand you samples of your choices from the whole stock except the very old brands (15 years & older). There is also a bar and a nice model (scale ??) of an old rum factory.

You must stop here and try all the wonderful samples before you buy. The staff is wonderful and will offer you lots of samples. We always buy the Legendario, which is a great sipping rum. I also tried several liqueurs and ended up buying three tropical ones. A place one must visit when in Varadero. Just off the main street at calle 62. Take the 5.00 bus ride all day, as it is a far walk from the beginning of the strip, unless you are at the bigger resorts up the peninsula.

Seriously they will give you repeated samples of everything, hoping that you will either love it and buy lots, get a little drunk and buy lots, or feel bad about getting so many samples and buy something whether you want it or not. :p

We are fans of cuban rum, it's the main reason we went to Cuba on holiday, visiting the house of rum is a must to taste different rums and decide which ones to bring home
