the crafts market square was fine, a bit expensive for some stuff but overall fine, no hassels and open too negotiating deals which was fine and also the transport there was fine un-like my first visit there so no over priced transportation issues this time.

We visited Campina Taina during our stay at the Playa Costa Verde resort in April 2014. We made arrangements for this excursion through our Sunwing representative at a very reasonable rate of $39.00 a person. Although we visited a school, unfortunately, the children were off during the week of Easter. So, we weren't able to see them sitting in their class room. There were, however, some children on the school grounds while we were there, and some of us were able to distribute school supplies to them. We visited a museum, which was very interesting. Then we went to a farmer's home and he took us on a tour of his 19-acre property - beautiful property with every fruit tree you can imagine. His wife prepared a little lunch for us when we returned to their home. From there, we went to a local restaurant where we watched chicken being roasted on a spit. Then we had a meal of roasted chicken (the best chicken we tasted in Cuba), accompanied by a salad, rice and dessert. We then stopped at Guardalavaco and visited the artisans' craft market there. We highly recommend this excursion.

We enjoyed a wonderful tour of the countryside...visited a medical clinic, school, farm, small fishing village and the Guardalavaca market. We finished our day with a bbq lunch at Conuco Mongo Nina.

the tour is quite nice - the visit to the clinic and school makes you and yr kids appreciate what we have in Canada. jst beware : when you get to the mock indian village, one of the houses features topless women in thongs doing what is supposed to be a native dance. they also come to you and ask you to join them. this might not be suitable for kids. also the mock indian rituals consisted of the actors making random grunting sounds and doing comedy, which I suppose must be insulting to real natives.

The village was the highlight of our day on a very very long bus tour. The village is lovely and has the feel of going back in time to an age long past and forgotten. It is set in a lovely natural open site.Certainly not your usual commercial and tacky tourist stop. You take a leisurely walking tour upon a wood sidewalk surrounding the entire historical site. You will see several stone sculptures commemorating the past traditions. At one point you walk through a traditional hut where you will pass a girl in traditional Taina costume who will paint your face with natural traditional paint. The next girl starts a dance with you. It was such fun to take part in this ritual.Later on you will be taken a spot where they have set up stations showing how coal was made in the traditional method. They created 4 or 5 phases of how the Taina transformed wood into coal. This historical site is well worth the visit.

The people putting on the show smirked and hurried through the village, felt like they were not happy with job. Wanted to sell trinkets. We did go up to the museum across the road and enjoyed that, the dig that was done after the farmer discovered bones is well preserved, although kind of spooky with all the skeletons!

Enjoyed the dancing and the interaction they provided. Nice to have a cold beer there! Also had gone to the graveyard across the way. very interesting to see the preserved bones.

Loved this excursion! Took us from hotel to visit Puerto Sama then off to Campina Taina for the museum and the taina village with a little show. After, off to guardalavaca market then to eat at a nice Cuban restaurant. All this for 40$ per person!! A must do activity, as you will visit a typical village with a school visit, the doctors village medical office etc.....very worth it! You can then see what you have at the hotel compared to what the people live with. I'm sure many will hold back from complaining on little things once done.Have a nice trip @ Campina Taina!!!

Arrived here with a tour group and it was very interesting, great views, and a well maintained museum. The demonstration they did was hilarious, and really involved the audience. Our tour guide did all the talking so it was well understood for us. Definately worth coming here, especially if you are interested in anthropology/history. It's not a huge place, so you don't need a lot of time to spend here. The food was really good afterwards - we had beans, rice, chicken and it was very tasty.

Excelent panoramic view - food provided was inedible. The ritual was hard to understand - would have been helpful if there had been a commentary

very informative! we had a great time, great tour guide!fun show at the indian village. we enjoyed the fishermans town. met locals got to visit their houses a small local school. If you are able to bring some puzzles or easy games for the little kids or maybe if someone still has video cassets. some people bring candys but since they do have an old tv and a VHS there no one thinks of that, and not many games. and we have been told that tedy bears are very rear to have and would be a great gift!

Small recreation of local native culture. See how they lived, worked, and survived. Only about 9kms from PRDO.

I had a chance to visit Aldea Taina as a part of the ''Blue and green safari " excursion .It was a perfect finale to the attraction packed day .This open air museum is an accurate recreation of pre-Columbian Taino village .It consist of a few huts with life -size statues of aborigines performing their daily tasks.Besides taking pictures you can watch and take part in the short performance .The reenactors dressed as natives present a parody of the curing ceremony and tribal dance with the touristsIt was quite funny and everyone in my group seemed to enjoy it.The show was followed up by a very good dinner in on site restaurant .They served the best fried plantains and rice with beans I had a chance to try during my entire stay in Cuba.
