White sand, blue ocean... Peaceful and calm (at least after 4pm in the afternoon). There is a bar that closes early, and also chairs/umbrellas.It was almost empty during the time we were there, and it was amazing. We missed the hotel free transportation to get there, and needed a taxi cab that cost us 10 CUC, for 2 people. Sometimes you could smell sulfur at the beach, but it was not something that could bother too much neither ruin your day.

After a half days fishing during which we only caught one Barracuda our skipper suggested he would catch us some fresh lobster and take us swimming to an idyllic beach. Well he snorkelled amongst the mangroves and true to his word came back to the boat with 5 fresh crayfish/lobster. He took us to this beach and made lunch on board we swam in the crystal clear waters and strolled along the deserted beach simply heavenly our own desert island and boat waiting.

A must visit. Spend a day and enjoy the scenery. You can even walk back to the Sol Cayo Largo if you are energetic.

This is a gorgeous beach. I grew up not far from there and this area of Cuba has some of the best sand and water to be found anywhere. Simply spectacular and unspoiled. Enjoy it before the cruise ships and crowds get there and ruin it.

We visited the beach in February 2015 and some naturally occurring changes have developed since our prior trip during March 2014. A sand bar has now created a lagoon where once open and shallow water was. Since no new water from the ocean can come into or escape the new lagoon, it seems a little stagnant now. It is still fine to swim in but not as nice as before in my opinion. The lagoon is still large enough for some fish and even a ray to survive in and I did see a jellyfish at the far east side. The ocean side of the lagoon is fine to swim in but a little rougher especially on windy days. The day was cloudy during our day visit as you can see in our picture. Early birds of course get to select the few thatched umbrella type structures on the beach for shade. The is a little hut shaped kiosk on site for purchasing over-priced drinks and I never did see a washroom. There are three ways to get there. The first is by 2 carts containing bench seats towed by a small desil truck made to look like a train. It was free from our resort (Sol Pelicano) which left hourly and also travelled a bit further to the other beach (Serrena beach) as well. Keep in mind that the road is more like a wide sand path with plenty of potholes and wash-outs creating a very bumpy ride about 15 to 20 minutes in duration. At times, the "train" broke down as we found out after waiting and then taking a taxi back which is the second way to get there and back. A taxi will cost about 4 Cuban dollars each but the price goes down if others travel with you. Our driver was a little on the reckless side as he drove the minivan like a rally car on the sandy road. The speedometer was broken but I estimated he hit 80 to 100 km on some stretches. The ride took about 10 minutes or less. The final way to get there is by walking on the beach from your resort. By far the most interesting choice as no resorts are beyond the Sol Cayo Largo and the beaches are virtually deserted for several km giving you the feeling that the island is uninhabited. This is not a trip however for the very unfit person as the sand in many areas was difficult to walk on and you sink up beyond your ankles. Some places the beach was under water and we climbed up onto surrounding sand dunes to go around. We misjudged the time when we walked back from Playa Paraiso Beach to the Sol Pelicano resort and ran out of daylight about halfway back (should have brought a flashlight and extra water). A very casual walk took us just over 3 hours as we explored a lot. You could likely walk the distance in less than 2 hours and again, I'll repeat you should have plenty of water to rehydrate.

Beautiful beach. Very unique but not well looked after. Facilities run down. Lounges and equipment not very well looked after. Beaches were not raked. Dolphin section is dirty and stinks bad. Lots of staff around but no much work being done.

This is by far the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. Other then a small wooden building that serves drinks and a limited selection of food it is completely undeveloped, no hotels, just sun palapas and shades made out of palm leaves. The atmosphere is totally relaxed, a place to go to escape the rest of the world. When I was there the water was crystal clear, as calm as a bathtub and the most amazing shades of blue and turquoise. It is quiet, there is total peace and if you walk a little bit to the left almost total privacy. Cayo Largo is known for clothes optional beaches so it may not be to every ones liking.

Absolutely amazing, a must see and go as many times as you can!!! The 6 km to get there is easily done by bicycle...

Such a beautiful and colourful place! The beach goes on for a long stretch and is super quiet unless you are sitting next to a group of Italian tourists! :) Water was clean, calm and turquoise!

We visited this beach late Jan 2015 and were disappointed that on our first visit to a Caribbean beach that it was really overcast and grey. However our main complaint was that the beach was very dirty and the adjacent toilets were in a disgusting stae

Cayo Largo has the most beautiful beaches for sure! And Playa Paraiso is spectacular! White, sugary sand - that does not get hot by the way! And the beautiful aquamarine of the Caribbean Sea - it is pure bliss!
