A place of silence and prayer. The place is a good place for reflection. It starts with the candle lightning and until you came across the fort pilar itself. Pictures is good.

Worth the visit. Even the guard I spoke to was versed with the history of the tribes. But looking out from the fort, there's a recently built government building spoiling the view towards the sea. Our officials must be more mindful of preserving our heritage sites and its environs.

The walls surrounding the fort was tall and imposing. After lighting some candles and offering some prayers at the shrine, I went to see the museum. Unfortunately, though the place was undergoing restorations at that time. Nevertheless, this is a nice stop if you are interested in the city's history.

You can go up the Fort through their National Museum. As of October 2014, there is only on exhibit open to the public. They are currently rennovating the interior of the buildings and putting in more exhibits for the future.Going up the Fort is fun but going down is a little scary. There is only one way to access it - the ramp. The ramp is quite steep so appropriate footwear should be worn unless you're fine with going down barefoot or rolling down. LOL

Very historical site in Zamboanga City, though it's a mini-mini version of Intramuros, you can still appreciate the beauty of it, of course if you love historical sites. During the time of our visit, there's no gallery because the restoration process of the building is on-going so we just had a little time and not all the areas are open.

This place is where you can find The Real Fuerza de Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Zaragoza (Royal Fort of Our Lady of the Pillar of Zaragoza or Fort Pilar). It's a good place to pray and light candles. Even Moslem light their candles here.

something historically worthwhile in Zamboanga. The patron of the city is kept there, so expect people

Very nice and a very sacred place. You should try and take in a service while there. It is free and a great experience.. Also very safe at all times .

Must visit when in Zamboanga. A well preserved fort used by the Spaniards to defend the city with a good history. Catholic mass celebrated every Sunday.

Countless stories of miracles of the Holy Virgin of Fort Pilar add life to it as an attraction among Catholic devotees. I'd been here twice while visiting my relatives in Zamboanga Sibugay and Siay. Situated outside the fortified walls which were erected during the Spanish colonization, this place of worship in open air is astonishingly serene while in the midst of noisy and bustling city life of Zamboanga.

Have never seen anything like this! An outdoor shrine dedicated to Mother Mary was built outside the fort with benches around the shrine, much like a church. People would stop by to light candles offer prayers or just meditate.

Latest stories I gathered visited Oct 2013 from local caretaker of their stores " There was a Lady in white carrying a child and wanted to buy a candle but emphasize she has not enough coin apparently caretaker who has been there for years went ahead to give a candle" She realized the Lady was not ordinary and that she looks so familiar "Lady of Fort Pillar"It was spread so fast. Most importantly a soldier was approached by Lady and encourage them to Pray so hard, again it was a familiar face The Face of the Lady at the Fort. So real that the locals has to pay tribute to this Fort. All folks of life and All of different religion AMEN
