This temple is only about 65 Kms from my home town Mangalore. I had been to the temple many times, but each time I be there; I feel very happy.

This is a smaller temple compared to other Krishna temples in South India - the ones at Guruvayur, Allepey or Mannargudi. It was constructed by the Vaishnavite saint Madhvacharya in the 13th century. The Krishna idol here is simply awesome - a small but an ever cute idol! The overall experience inside the temple was nice - there are no big queues or the hassles or even VIP dharshan system here. If you are lucky, you can get darshans multiple times during off peak hours or on less crowded days. You cannot visit the Lord directly into the garba graha, but have a glimpse from a 'window' but that itself is closer to the idol, so we were not disappointed. We were there early morning and had a peaceful time inside. The authorities can however consider having few more sign boards in english. Overall, a must visit place in Udupi to awaken your spiritual side!

It is a very popular and historic temple. A really good theme around this is that it is accessible to everyone and there is a legend or story behind it as well.

A must visit place in Udupi. Very old temple with tons of Heritage linked to it. It gets pretty crowded during Hindu Festival seasons. And it is better to avoid going here during those time as they crowds could get a little too much to handle. Very serene and calm place.

Life at Udupi town and the surrounding villages revolves around the Krishna temple, also called Krishna Mutt. Established by Swami Madhwacharya, there are elaborate rituals going on the whole day at the temple. There are two other Shiva temples next to the Krishna Mutt called Chandramoulishwara and Anantheshwara and all these temples are surrounded by 8 other math's called Ashthamathas. Each of the ashthamathas takes over the running of the Krishna Mutt for a period of two years, a period which is called paryaya. Each of these ashthamathas offers boarding facilities and though I did not stay there, I would recommend staying at the matha for a better experience at the temple town. It makes it easy to spend more time and provides easy access. The Krishna Matha serves lunch to all for free which consists of local cuisine on a banana leaf. There are lots of shops to purchase souvenirs, pooja articles, books etc. There is a Udupi style restaurant called MIthra Samaj in the vicinity, one outlet for snacks and other for meals. Evenings are fun at the temple as Utsava is celebrated by taking the lord out on chariots. There are chariots of various sizes and depending upon the sponsor devotees they all line up and take a trip around the Car Street. An elephant leads the procession marked with fireworks and dances. The street assumes a festive atmosphere as people turn up to pull the chariots and perform arati. The parlay swamiji leads the procession which attracts children and adults alike. I would recommend this to all who find it interesting going through temple rituals.

This temple is certainly worth a visit in his / her lifetime. Located in the heart of of Udupi, about 60 km from Managlore in Karnataka, India, this temple is richly adorned with jewels and it is really a treat to watch. We had gone around 1 pm and there was absolutely no queue that we normally hate in these kinds of temples. The staff in the temple were very kind and helpful to us. We also had free Bhojan served at the end of the darshan that was clean and tasty too.

I had heard about this temple. But the love for this place increased manifold after visiting the temple. Thanks God Krishna for allowing us to give us Darshan many time. Kanakana Kindi establishes the fact the Krishna is for devotees and can do anything to give devotees his darshan.Evening function where sheshanag is taken around the the temple pond ( kolam) and then rath yatra is worth seeing. I was happy that i could pull the rath and see the function from very close proximity. The Temple is very clean and people are very co-operative. The best part was to have gates locked at every car street near the temple so that auto and four wheeler do not ply near the temple. This is the best part. You literally walk and enjoy the temple precincts.Eyes are blessed to witness the lord. Pray to God that allow me to visit this place at least once every year.Visited on 6th and 7th February 2015.

A visit to the Krishna Temple in the early morning gives you a refreshing feeling and rejuvenates you. The mutts which manage the temple bi-annually have retained the tradition of the place very well. Oil lit lamps decorate the main sanctum sanctorum and also around the sanctorum.Pujas and other festivals conducted by the temple is very well managed so that all devotees get a chance to see the deity. The temple is very colourful in the evening. You can sit and meditate inside the temple on the corridors. This would rejuvenate your inner chakras.Free food is served for all devotees during lunch hours and dinner time. This is very helpful for travellers visiting the temple who would have travelled long distance to reach the place. My every visit to this temple has been wonderful and I always look for an opportunity to visit the temple whenever time and opportunity comes.

Evening if you go then you will always entertained by the cultural programs in the Rajangana Hall. You can get insight here, many preachers put their words and try to enlighten the present day to to day life struggle in simple words. Once visit and feel the experience.

it's arguably one of the oldest temples of the region. The temple offers daily free food to the pilgrims as well as school children. lot of other social activities including educational institutions are run by the temple management.
