Ousteri or Ossoudu lake is outside the city on the way to Villupuram through Vazhudhavur road. We usually combine visiting this place with swimming in the nearby pool belonging to Sampoorna theme park. If you go there in November to January, there is a high chance of visiting some migratory birds. But you will have to visit in the morning or close to sunset. But you need to take a boat to get near the birds. Try to avoid weekend evenings because of crowds.

Ousteri Lake is easily accessible from Pondicherry. It has a large reservoir with boating facility(Pedal and normal motorized ones). Its just another average lake. Worth visit during Lotus season. A park is also there which is also poorly maintained. There are no good restaurants nearby. Parking is available.

I went out there to bird watch but it transpires that the only way you can do that is to take a boat out and it was much too windy so no boats out that day. I was told that there was a trail at the far end of the lake but we couldn't find it - so for bird watchers - don't bother!

If you wish to experience a million lotus blooms on a lake with varied species of migratory birds on the tress surrounding it, this is your place. A leisurely 30 minute boat ride during sunset is a must.

Beautiful, breathtaking with loads of lotusNice boat ride to and fro half hr.. with a option to use peddle boat for 100m.

It is not a good place, it just has boating that too costly, it is just a lake, nothing special, it is far away from the city but no use.

Lake is located slightly outskirt from the main town, There is a small children's park. Place is quite peaceful. You can enjoy bird watching here. You can find lots of Siberian birds floating.

There's boating, kayaking or just plain sitting. Avoidable when the crowds are around. The lake is fenced off, but if you manage to find a not-so-secret village rough road, expect to find a way right down to the waters edge.

The months between November and February, when the city cools down and the birds come to roost, are the best times to visit this place. Though the facilities are very sparse, the boat ride in the evening is fun- it takes one to a small island teeming with migratory birds and is a wondrous sight to behold.......An Indian Coffee House across the road serves excellent pakoras in a cute little garden setting, though the service is rather slow owing to the small kitchen and staff. Overall a nice bird- watching excursion in small- town Pondy!

This place is just beside the road.. When we arrived to this place and saw it; we felt was terrible mistake and couldn't stay in this place for more than 30 min. Besides if you want to experience this place, perhaps visit in the evening so you feel better with pedal boating!!

This is one of the best unexplored parts of Pondicherry. This is a quaint lake around 12 kms from main Pondicherry town. For someone who loves birdwatching, this place is heavenly! The migratory birds that you will sometimes see flying over the town area - they all come here for rest and peace. Go for a boat ride and enjoy the views.Best time to go: 6am to 9am or 4pm to 6pmNearby eating options: Almost none. So, take along your own snacks.

I been there for boating, when i reached there i saw lot of bird many types playing in water and arround the lake. it was aware for me how much we should save our natural resources because only we are not living thing on the EARTH, there are many many. Good place for eco tourism.

The place is a good 15 kms away from the town. The lake does not have great views to offer. The boating infrastructure there is poor and dull. All in all a dull place and is better avoided.
