Really beautiful beach where you can drink great cocktails. There are no waves here so you can swim and relax.

This is the worst 'beach' we have ever been to. Not so much a beach, but a thin line of sand littered with rubbish, old dirty sun beds, and a few questionable establishments selling snacks you wouldn't feed to your dog. There seemed to be quite a lot of drug use here and not a very nice vibe.Yes this place really is this bad. It felt so filthy that we sat down for ten minutes then left. Although had to wait half an hour for a boat to fill up with enough people to take us back to the bus. We didn't see any starfish at all. The water was certainly not clear enough and the waves too strong. If you are in Bocas, go to Red Frog or Zapatillas and give this one a miss.We were informed by a few of the locals that this beach used to be nice although has deteriorated with the number of boats pulling up on the shores and disturbing the starfish. We have just read a five star review recently published and have to ask whether these people were in the same place as us!

I found this to be my favorite beach in Bocas del Toro although it is not the best beach. It is fun to come here by boat. However, there is a cheaper ride by bus (small) for just $2. I went here with Undersea Panama tour company twice for $20 round trip including snorkeling equipment. I enjoyed fresh lobster, red snapper, and cocktail. I also enjoyed snorkeling with the starfish. Although it was not totally like the photos may depict, there are still plenty of starfish to get nice photos of while spending a day at Starfish Beach (Playa Estrella). I recommend Playa Estrella to all tourist and travelers visiting Bocas del Toro. Happy Travels!!!!

This beach was such a disappointment - the only place we visited in Bocas that didn't surpass our expectations. If you've ever been in a latin country during semana santa, you'll understand the idea of how loud, chaotic & spoilt this beach is with the over the top number of visitors here at any one time. Bocas has so many paradise spots & sadly this is no longer one of them. The beach front is not much more than a 'car park' for numerous moored boats & as for the namesakes - the starfish - there are far more to be seen in other areas. Save yourself the let down & avoid this beach.

Almost as many boats as people, wish I had read the reviews before going, if you do go, seating is $10 for each lounge chair, There are little slivers in the sand so wear water shoes. People were stepping on the few star fish that we saw or picking them up. Wish we had been here 20 years ago. Oh, and we paid a driver $2.50 to take us to Drago, and he said it was $2.50 to come back but the driver who took us back wanted $3.50 and he was crazy, trying to knock the surf boards out of people's arms, honking at everyone at the side of the road.

Nice little beach with calm water and great rest. You can actually see the starfish near the shore. I wish people would be more conscious and not try to grab one just to take a picture! We did see someone try to grab one, and immediately, someone started blowing his whistle to let them know it is not allowed to do that. It is far away from downtown, but well worth the ride.

Omg! what can i say about such a BEAUTIFUL beach! full of starfish all over the water! the place is a paradise, you can chill under the palm trees while having a cold drink made with fresh fruits. The ¨Bocas del Toro¨ drink is sooo good and it comes inside a coconut! great fro those paradise pictures to show to your family and friends ;) don´t forget your snorkels

We enjoyed our trip to Boca del Drago a lot. Playa Estrella is a beautiful beach with very calm and Caribbean colored water. The place was perfect for our 16 month old boy who played in the water and in the shade of the beautiful trees all day long. Unfortunately, parts of the beach are really dirty because people leave a lot of trash. Also, there are little to no starfish to see. I only hope that people start to realize that they will have to take better care of this beautiful piece of land before it becomes too late. So, if you do not go there for the starfish, you could enjoy a wonderful day at a nice beach including good food. I also heard that it is popular for the locals to hang out at so if you don’t like your beaches crowded, go during the week.

I went to Bocas around 5 years ago. When I visited this beach, there were so many starfish that one had to walk carefully. I visited again last week and I found ONE starfish after walking through the whole beach. It was super sad to see what this beach has become. Super loud music everywhere, Its hardly a place to rest or a natural beauty anymore.

The starfish are gone. There are 8 dead ones clustered on the far end of the beach where the waves stop. There isn't really a beach, just a line of chairs, small pop up restaurant booths, port-o-potties and music being played from broken speakers. We opted out of a second day on Bluff Beach to explore this area and it ended up being our biggest regret on our 18 day trip. It really is so sad and tired looking. Save the pricey cab ride and go to Bluff instead. Unless you want to swim, then go to Isla Zapatilla.

A $5 round trip with regular returns from the park in bocas town. Then it is a 10 Min walk on an easy path to the main beach area. Choose sun or shade, take your own food and drinks or buy them there they don't seem to mind which. The water is calm and the starfish are pretty.

A busride away from isla colon centre. The beach is filled with restaurants and bars. We rented a beachchair for 5 dollar. The lobster was good ( in the first restaurant on the beach). Maybe because it was sunday but it was really crowded. Also no starfishes, a bit dissapointing.

One good tip to save money not getting the tour on boat, is to rent an ATV and go by your self to the closest beach to Estrella (ask the ATV guy) once you are there, just pay a very small amount of money (don't remember how much) for a water taxi which it is used also by the locals, and go to Estrella. This way you will save a lot of money.

One of the most beautiful and peaceful beaches I've been to and the starfish are so pretty. When we went there were less than 10 other people on the beach, i've heard it gets a lot busier in peak season.Worth doing the short hike to the beach on the way there (you can get a taxi from town to the drop off point) and then a water taxi back to your taxi on the way back.
